Anthropic Ticker Symbol: What We Know and How the Prediction Settles
Anthropic has not announced a ticker symbol. See what the company has said about its IPO and how the versus prediction on its ticker settles.
versus Editorial · 4 October 2026
At the time of writing, on 10 October 2026, Anthropic has not announced a ticker symbol. On 1 June 2026 it said on its own newsroom that it had confidentially submitted a draft registration statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a proposed initial public offering (IPO) of its common stock. One live prediction on versus, What ticker will Anthropic list under by 31 Dec 2027?, asks which ticker symbol Anthropic will use. This guide, written for readers in Great Britain, covers what Anthropic has said, how the prediction settles and what a position can cost you.
The Short Answer
- No symbol yet. Anthropic's newsroom shows no announcement of an exchange, a listing date or a ticker symbol. A code shown for Anthropic anywhere else is unofficial until Anthropic announces one.
- An IPO is proposed, not done. Anthropic says the proposed IPO depends on market conditions and other factors.
- Nine symbols are on offer. The prediction's answers are AAI, ANAI, ANT, ANTH, APBC, ARPC, CLAU, CLD and CLDE. They are the market's candidates, not a list from Anthropic.
- You can lose the whole amount. A winning contract settles at 100p and a losing one at 0p, and a position that settles at 0p is lost in full.
What Anthropic Has Said So Far
These details come from the Anthropic newsroom post "Anthropic confidentially submits draft S-1 to the SEC", dated 1 June 2026 and checked on 10 October 2026.
- The step taken: Anthropic, PBC confidentially submitted a draft registration statement on Form S-1, the form a company uses to register shares before selling them to the public.
- What it allows: the post says this gives Anthropic the option to go public after the SEC completes its review.
- What is still open: the IPO depends on market conditions and other factors, and the number of shares and the price have not been set.
- What it is not: the post says it is not an offer to sell securities.
The post names no exchange and no ticker symbol. A confidential submission is not published for the public to read, and a search of EDGAR on 10 October 2026 found no public registration statement from Anthropic, so no public SEC document from the company yet names a symbol. Press reports have discussed when and where a listing might happen, but Anthropic's newsroom has not confirmed a date, an exchange or a symbol, so none of that settles this prediction.
What a Ticker Symbol Is
A ticker symbol is a short code, usually a few letters, that identifies a company's shares on a stock exchange. A company normally agrees its symbol with the exchange it lists on, so the symbol usually becomes public when the listing details do. A company with more than one class of shares can give each class its own symbol, often the same letters with a suffix.
What the Prediction Asks
The prediction is called "What ticker will Anthropic list under by 31 Dec 2027?" At the time of writing it has nine answers, listed above. Each has its own price between 0p and 100p, which is the market's estimate of how likely that symbol is, and at most one can be right. At 08:09 UK time on 8 October 2026 the prediction priced the answer ANTH at 42p, a 42% chance, and ANT at 24p, with the other seven answers at 5.4p or less. Those are prices of answers on the prediction, not of any share.
It is about a code, not about Anthropic's share price or business. A position gives you no shares in the company, and nothing here is advice about buying or selling shares.
How the Prediction Settles
Every market on versus names the source that settles it before you trade. What market resolution means explains the idea in general. The rules for What ticker will Anthropic list under by 31 Dec 2027? say, in short:
- The sources: Anthropic's own information and the main exchange's official listing page, with another reliable source allowed for a detail that page does not show.
- The result: the market settles on the ticker symbol Anthropic uses in a qualifying IPO. The rules say an official announcement from Anthropic of the symbol it will list under is enough.
- Share classes: letters added only to mark a class of shares do not make a new answer, so ANTH.A or ANTHA would count as ANTH.
- More than one symbol: if Anthropic announces several different symbols for different share classes, the market stays open until trading begins. On that first day the symbol of the class with the largest market value decides, counted as shares outstanding times the closing price. If two are level, the earlier one in alphabetical order wins.
- If none of the nine is right: if Anthropic lists under a symbol that is not among the nine, or has not announced a listing and a symbol by 04:59 UK time (GMT) on 1 January 2028, which is 05:59 Central European Time, the rules give the result "Other", and none of the nine answers wins.
The market closes at the end of December 2027, though the rules can settle it sooner.
What Can Move the Prices
This is a long prediction with few fixed dates, so news moves the prices: a public filing by Anthropic, a reported choice of exchange or an announcement of the symbol itself. A company's public registration documents often say which exchange it plans to list on and the symbol it has in mind. Anthropic has announced no date for any of these steps, so the only fixed dates are the prediction's own: the close at the end of December 2027 and the start of 2028 named in the rules. A price is only the market's estimate at a given moment, not a promise, and a listing that looks close can still slip. If the news changes while the market is open, you can sell at the current price, which may be lower than the price you paid.
A Worked Example
Say, purely as an illustration, that one answer trades at 20p. You put 400p into it, which buys 20 contracts. The transaction fee is 2% of the stake, added on top, so it comes to 8p and 408p leaves your balance. The fee is shown before you confirm.
- If that symbol is the one Anthropic announces or lists under: the 20 contracts settle at 100p each, 2,000p in total.
- If it is any other symbol, or the result is "Other": the contracts settle at 0p and the 408p is gone.
- If you change your mind first: say months pass with no announcement and the price falls to 8p. Selling the 20 contracts at 8p gives you 160p back, a loss, but a smaller one than if they settled at 0p.
The most this position could cost you was the 408p you saw before confirming. There is no leverage and no margin call, so a market moving against you cannot leave you owing money.
Checks Before You Open a Position
- Read the rules first. They say which sources count, how share classes are handled and what "Other" means.
- Check which question it is. It asks for the symbol, not whether or when Anthropic lists. If no symbol is announced in time, all nine answers can settle at 0p.
- Decide what you are prepared to lose in full. The stake and the 2% fee are shown before you confirm, and together they are the most the position can cost you.
Where to Find This Prediction
versus is a prediction market app across politics, finance, sport, AI, crypto and entertainment. The current predictions include technology questions such as this one: open any market to see its question, the price of each answer and the source that settles it. How it works follows one position from opening to settlement, and how to verify market rules goes through the rules line by line. A related prediction, Which bank will run Anthropic's listing by 31 Dec 2027?, settles on the bank that leads the sale of the shares as lead underwriter, going by Anthropic's own disclosures. If several banks share the lead, the one ranked first, for example by the order in the final prospectus, decides; with no listing by 04:59 UK time on 1 January 2028 the result is "Other". Another, When will Anthropic go public?, asks whether Anthropic's shares are trading on a public exchange by one of several dates in 2026, the latest being 31 December, and it runs until 1 July 2027. An answer resolves Yes if trading has begun by 05:59 Central European time on the day after its date, which is 04:59 UK time (BST or GMT, whichever is in force that day). If a listed company bought Anthropic first, every answer would settle No. The rules name Anthropic's own filings and announcements and the exchange's listing confirmation as the sources, with agreed press reporting allowed as a back-up. On 10 October 2026 neither Anthropic's newsroom nor EDGAR showed a listing date, and the versus page showed 76.5p for the 31 December 2026 answer at 07:56 UK time on 10 October 2026.
