Anthropic Fable 5.2 Release Date: What Is Known So Far
Anthropic has named no date for Fable 5.2. Fable 5.1 came out on 1 September 2026. See the dated release history and how the versus prediction settles.
versus Editorial · 10 October 2026
As of 10 October 2026, Anthropic has not released Fable 5.2 or any later Fable model, and no Anthropic page checked names a date for one. The versus page for Will Anthropic release Fable 5.2 or later by 31 Oct? showed Yes at 78.3p at 07:54 UK time on 10 October 2026, the market's estimate of a 78.3% chance. That is a market reading, not a statement from Anthropic, whose newest Fable is 5.1 (1 September 2026).
A second prediction, Will Anthropic release Fable 5.2 or newer by 31 Dec?, showed Yes at 94.5p at the same time. Both accept any Fable numbered 5.2 or above, so a 5.3 or a 6 would count too.
The Claude 5 releases so far, with dates
Dates are from Anthropic's platform release notes, except the 12 June suspension, which the notes do not list; that date is on Anthropic's statement linked in the list.
- 9 June 2026: Claude Fable 5, open to the public, with Claude Mythos 5 for vetted organisations.
- 12 June to 1 July 2026: Fable 5 was switched off after a US government export control directive (Anthropic's statement) and restored when the controls were lifted (its later post).
- 30 June 2026: Claude Sonnet 5.
- 24 July 2026: Claude Opus 5.
- 1 September 2026: Claude Fable 5.1, with Claude Mythos 5.1 for verified organisations.
- 22 September 2026: Claude Opus 5.5, which Anthropic describes as the opening model of a Claude 5.5 family.
- 28 September 2026: Claude Sonnet 5.5.
- 7 October 2026: Claude Haiku 5.5.
What Anthropic has said about a next Fable
Nothing that names one. The models overview lists four current models: Fable 5.1, Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5. Neither it nor the release notes, deprecations page, system cards list, Fable page or Claude apps release notes mention a later Fable. The closest statements are general:
- 9 June 2026, Fable 5 post: Anthropic wrote of "more capable models arriving in the coming months", naming no model or month.
- 1 September 2026, Fable 5.1 post: Anthropic said it was continuing to bring many of Fable 5.1's improvements to the rest of its model family, and named no successor to it.
- 22 and 28 September 2026: the Opus 5.5 and Sonnet 5.5 posts call those the first and second models of a Claude 5.5 family. None of the three 5.5 posts says a Fable will join it.
What the prediction counts, and what it does not
The 31 October prediction turns on five points:
- The name. It must include the word Fable and a version of 5.2 or higher, whatever the capitalisation or extra words. Claude Fable 5.2 and Claude Fable 6 count. Fable 5.1 does not, nor does Mythos 5.1, nor any name without Fable in it.
- Open to the public. It must already be out and usable by anyone. Open betas and open waiting lists count. A closed beta or private access does not.
- The evidence. Either Anthropic says plainly that the public can use it, or it really is usable and is labelled with its version on Anthropic's official website. Wrong labels and placeholders do not count.
- The source. Anthropic's own information decides, with reliable reports as a cross-check. The rules name no single page.
- The window. It opens at 00:11 UTC on 3 September 2026 (01:11 BST) and closes at 23:59 UTC on Saturday 31 October 2026. UK clocks go back on 25 October, so the close is 23:59 GMT.
Fable 5.1 was public two days before the window opened, and Anthropic's platform release notes for 3 September list only a command line tool update and a beta feature reaching Google Cloud for existing models. Its Claude apps release notes jump from 1 September to 10 September, so its pages show no new model that day.
The 31 December prediction applies the same test with a later cut-off. A public Claude Fable 6 would also count for a third prediction, Will Anthropic release Claude 6 by 31 Mar 2027? Any public Claude Opus, Sonnet or Haiku with a version of 6 or more counts there too, but not a Mythos model limited to vetted users. Its rules close at 11:59 pm Eastern Time on 31 March 2027 (04:59 BST on 1 April 2027), and its page showed Yes at 35p at 07:54 UK time on 10 October 2026.
The gaps between releases, as arithmetic
Anthropic's release notes give one gap between two Fable models: 84 days from 9 June to 1 September 2026, or 62 days counted from the 1 July restoration of Fable 5. One gap is a thin sample. The same notes show 57 days from Opus 4.8 (28 May) to Opus 5 (24 July), 60 more to Opus 5.5 (22 September), and 90 days from Sonnet 5 (30 June) to Sonnet 5.5 (28 September).
Counted from 1 September, 10 October is 39 days on, the 31 October cut-off is 60 days on and 31 December is 121 days on. Of the four gaps, one (57) is shorter than 60, one (60) matches it and two (84 and 90) are longer; all four are shorter than 121. That is arithmetic on past dates, not a schedule, and Anthropic has given no date for any further Fable.
Dates and signals to watch
- Any day: a new entry on the Fable page, in the platform release notes or in the Claude apps release notes, where both earlier Fable launches appear under their launch date.
- 31 October 2026, 23:59 UK time (GMT): the last moment for the first prediction. A qualifying public release before then would settle Yes at 100p. With none, No would settle at 100p and the 31 December prediction stays open.
- 31 December 2026: the second prediction's cut-off. Its rules say 11:59 pm Eastern Time, which is 04:59 GMT on 1 January 2027, while its page lists an end date of 23:59 UTC on 31 December.
Before you trade
This guide is for readers in Great Britain. A price runs from 0p to 100p and is the market's estimate of a chance: a winning contract settles at 100p and a losing one at 0p, so you can lose the whole amount you put into a position. The rules and settling source are on each prediction's page; what market resolution means explains how one is decided. versus adds a 2% transaction fee on top of the stake and shows it before you confirm, and while a market is open you can sell at the current price.

Frequently asked questions
When will Fable 5.2 be released?
Anthropic has not said. As of 10 October 2026 its newest Fable is 5.1, released on 1 September 2026, and no page checked mentions a 5.2.
Will the next Fable be called 5.2?
Anthropic has not said. The versus predictions count any Fable numbered 5.2 or above, so a 5.3, a 5.5 or a 6 would count too.
What is the difference between Fable and Mythos?
Anthropic describes Fable 5.1 and Mythos 5.1 as the same model with different safeguards. Fable 5.1 is on general release, while Mythos 5.1 is limited to organisations vetted through Anthropic's verification programmes.
