Otherwise, it resolves No. An official announcement from James that he is retiring qualifies even if his formal retirement has not yet taken effect, as long as the announced retirement is stated to take effect before the start of the 2026-27 NBA season. An announcement that he will retire after the start of the 2026-27 NBA season does not qualify. The primary resolution source is official statements from LeBron James. A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
